: Riftbound Rarities Explained: The UK Collector's Complete Guide to Every Card Tier (2026)

Confused by Overnumbered, Signature Overnumbered, and Ultimate Rarity in Riftbound? We break down every rarity tier with community-verified pull rates and real UK secondary market values for collectors.

RIFTBOUNDINVESTING & COLLECTING

Riftbound has one of the more layered rarity systems in modern TCGs. Standard rarities. Alternate art showcases. Overnumbered chase cards. Signature Overnumbered. Ultimate Rarity (new in Unleashed). And Riot Games does not publish official pull rates - so most of what UK collectors need to know has been pieced together by the community opening real boxes and counting.

If you have been buying sealed Riftbound and finding yourself confused about what you have actually pulled, what any of it is worth, and what the chase cards actually are - this guide is for you. We have pulled together every confirmed rarity tier, the community-derived pull rates, and the real UK secondary market values across each.

Short version: the standard rarities are for playing, the Overnumbered tiers are for chasing, and the Ultimate Rarity is where the biggest money currently lives.

The Standard Rarity Tiers

Riftbound uses four main rarity tiers on standard cards, each with a distinct card frame and gem shape so you can identify them at a glance.

Common

Seven per booster pack. These are the volume cards - the ones that fill out your deck's core mana and utility. Secondary market value is essentially zero for individual copies (pennies each in bulk). Their job is to make decks functional, not to hold value.

Rare

The default 'non-common' slot in most packs. A 24-pack booster box typically produces around 18 to 19 Rare cards. Some rares matter competitively; others are filler. Secondary market values sit in the £1-£10 range for most Rares, with a few competitive standouts reaching higher.

Epic

Roughly one in every four packs contains an Epic instead of the standard Rare - so a 24-pack box produces around 6 to 7 Epic cards. This is where competitive value starts to show up. Epics include the strongest playable cards in most sets. Secondary market values typically £10-£40 for popular Epics.

Legendary and Champion Legend

The top standard rarity - includes the Champion Legend cards that anchor decks. Every Riftbound set is built around its Champion Legends, so these carry both competitive and collector demand. Secondary market values commonly £30-£150 depending on the champion and set.

The Chase Rarities - Where the Money Lives

Everything above is the standard rarity pool. What follows is where Riftbound gets genuinely interesting for collectors.

Showcase / Alternate Art

Alternate artwork versions of cards already in the set. Visually distinctive, often striking, and more accessible than the Overnumbered tiers - you will see Showcase cards pulled with reasonable regularity.

For collectors, Showcase cards are the entry point into the aesthetic side of Riftbound collecting. Secondary market values typically £15-£100 depending on the character and the art quality.

Overnumbered

Overnumbered cards are premium versions of Champion Legends with collector numbers above the main set numbering (which is what gives them their name). For example, in Spiritforged, the Ahri Inquisitive Overnumbered is card 227/221 - the '227' is above the set's total of 221 standard cards.

Pull rate: approximately 1 per 3 boxes (roughly 1 per 72 packs). These are proper chase cards.

Overnumbered cards feature exclusive artwork and enhanced foil treatments. Gameplay-wise they play identically to their standard versions - the value is purely cosmetic and collectible. Raw prices typically £150-£400 for the more desirable champions, with graded copies reaching significantly higher.

Signature Overnumbered

The rarer tier of Overnumbered - identified by an asterisk in the collector number (e.g., 227*/221) and, critically, the artist's actual signature printed in foil on the card itself. This is the rarest-of-rare in Riftbound's standard chase pool.

Pull rate: approximately 1 in 10 Overnumbered cards is a Signature - which works out to roughly 1 in 30 boxes (around 0.14% per pack, or 1 in 720 packs).

Signature Overnumbered cards are where Riftbound's collector market genuinely takes off. The Ahri Signature Overnumbered from Spiritforged currently trades above £5,000 in PSA 10 - the kind of figure that puts Riftbound chase cards in serious modern TCG territory.

Ultimate Rarity (New in Unleashed)

The newest addition to the Riftbound rarity structure, introduced in Unleashed with exactly one card: Baron Nashor (UNL-238/219). Ultimate Rarity is designed as the pinnacle of the game's chase pool - genuinely scarce and genuinely premium.

Pull rate: less than 0.1% per pack. Community estimates put it at roughly 1 per 42 boxes.

Baron Nashor currently trades at £2,300-£2,900 in PSA 10 on the UK market - a card that, by pull rate, is roughly ten times rarer than the average Signature Overnumbered. Whether future sets continue introducing Ultimate Rarity cards, and which champions receive them, will shape a lot of Riftbound's investment story over the next few years.

What Each Booster Box Actually Contains (On Average)

A 24-pack Riftbound booster box, based on community-verified opening data:

· ~168 Commons (7 per pack across 24 packs)

· ~18-19 Rares

· ~6-7 Epics

· Multiple Legendary/Champion Legend cards

· Showcase/Alt Art cards at a moderate rate

· ~1 Overnumbered card per 3 boxes (roughly 33% chance per box)

· ~1 Signature Overnumbered per 30 boxes (roughly 3% chance per box)

· ~1 Ultimate Rarity per 42 boxes (Unleashed onwards - roughly 2.4% chance per box)

Important caveat: these figures come from community box openings, not from Riot Games directly. Pull rates could shift slightly as more data comes in. Treat them as reliable guidance, not guaranteed outcomes.

Which Rarities Actually Matter for Value?

For UK collectors thinking about Riftbound as an investment, the rarity tiers stack up like this:

· Common and Rare: minimal value; treat as playing cards

· Epic: modest secondary market value; competitively meaningful but not investment-grade individually

· Legendary/Champion Legend: meaningful value, particularly for iconic champions - real collector demand

· Showcase/Alt Art: genuine collector value, good entry point for aesthetic collectors

· Overnumbered: the first proper chase tier - real investment-grade cards

· Signature Overnumbered: serious money territory - the Ahri example at above £5,000 PSA 10 is the current benchmark

· Ultimate Rarity: the current pinnacle - Baron Nashor at £2,300-£2,900 PSA 10, and the only card in this tier so far

Practical implication: for every ten boxes of a Riftbound set you open, you should expect roughly three Overnumbered cards, zero to one Signature Overnumbered, and (Unleashed onwards) a small chance at an Ultimate Rarity. Everything else is playing cards and mid-tier collectibles.

How to Read a Riftbound Card's Rarity

Four quick tells to identify what you have pulled without needing a price guide open:

· Card frame: each rarity tier has a distinct frame design. Common frames are unadorned; higher rarities have more elaborate framing

· Gem shape: the gem in the card layout changes shape by rarity - a fast visual identifier

· Collector number: if the number BEFORE the slash is higher than the number AFTER (e.g. 227/221), you have an Overnumbered

· Asterisk: if the collector number has an asterisk (e.g. 227*/221), you have a Signature Overnumbered - the rarest-of-rare tier

For Ultimate Rarity, the visual treatment is deliberately distinct from anything else in the set - if you pull Baron Nashor from an Unleashed pack, you will know instantly.

Chasing Rarities: Sealed vs Singles

The maths of chasing specific chase cards from sealed product is worth understanding before you commit serious money.

To statistically guarantee a Signature Overnumbered: roughly 30 boxes. At current UK sealed prices (£105-£190 depending on set), that is £3,150 to £5,700 in product.

To statistically guarantee an Ultimate Rarity Baron Nashor: roughly 42 Unleashed boxes. At £105 per box currently, that is around £4,400. The card itself trades at £2,300-£2,900 PSA 10 - so cracking is mathematically loss-making by a wide margin.

The rational strategy for specific chase cards is singles. Buy the graded copy directly, save the money and the disappointment of 41 boxes of non-Baron pulls. Sealed makes sense if you enjoy the experience of opening product and value the chance-based excitement - not if your only goal is to acquire a specific chase card.

The Honest Caveats

Three things worth knowing that most rarity guides skip over.

1. Pull rates are community-derived, not official. Riot Games does not publish pack odds for Riftbound. Every pull rate figure in this post comes from community box openings tallied across hundreds to thousands of packs. They are directionally reliable but not exact.

2. Rarity structures can change between sets. Ultimate Rarity did not exist before Unleashed. Vendetta may introduce further tier changes or new categories. Always check whether the framework in this guide still applies to newer sets when they release.

3. Cosmetic rarity is not gameplay rarity. Overnumbered, Signature Overnumbered, and Ultimate Rarity cards play identically to their standard versions in every Riftbound format. The rarity system is about collector value, not competitive power. If you want to play the game rather than chase cards, standard rarities are all you need.

Our Verdict

· Riftbound has four standard rarities (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary) and four chase tiers (Showcase, Overnumbered, Signature Overnumbered, Ultimate Rarity)

· Overnumbered pulls at roughly 1 per 3 boxes - the first genuine chase tier

· Signature Overnumbered (asterisk-numbered, artist-signed) pulls at roughly 1 per 30 boxes - serious money territory (Ahri example: £5,000+ PSA 10)

· Ultimate Rarity is new in Unleashed with Baron Nashor as the only card so far - roughly 1 per 42 boxes, £2,300-£2,900 PSA 10

· The maths of chasing specific rares from sealed is punishing - buy singles for targeted collecting, buy sealed for the experience

· Pull rates are community-derived, not official from Riot - reliable but not exact

· Rarity is cosmetic; gameplay is unaffected by which version of a card you play with

· The upper chase tiers (Signature Overnumbered and Ultimate Rarity) are where UK Riftbound collectors will build most of their investment portfolio value
