Riftbound Unleashed and Spiritforged Below Launch Retail: Is This the Floor Ahead of Vendetta?

Riftbound sealed prices have moved to an interesting place. Both Unleashed and Spiritforged are currently available in the UK at around £105 per booster box - meaningfully below the £155 launch retail both sets carried at release. That is a 32% discount against launch price for two sets that are less than 18 months and 12 months old respectively.

The market is also about to change. Vendetta - Set 4 - launches worldwide on 31 July 2026. New Riftbound sets have historically shifted collector attention, and the sealed prices of previous sets tend to follow one of two paths afterward: rebound, or continue declining. Which one Unleashed and Spiritforged will follow is the real question for anyone considering a sealed position in the next six to eight weeks.

We have looked at the current numbers, the underlying fundamentals of each set, the chase cards that anchor each, and what typically happens to older sealed product around a new set launch. Short version: at £105 per box, there is a genuinely credible case that both sets are near their floor - and the underlying graded market data supports it.

Where Prices Sit Right Now

The current UK sealed picture across the Riftbound range:

· Origins (Set 1) - launched £155, now trades around £190 (+23% since launch)

· Spiritforged (Set 2) - launched £155, available at around £105 in the current UK market (-32% since launch)

· Unleashed (Set 3) - launched £155, available at around £105 in the current UK market (-32% since launch)

Origins is the outlier - the only Riftbound set that has appreciated meaningfully. Spiritforged and Unleashed have both underperformed launch retail significantly. The question is whether that underperformance is a permanent state or a temporary one.

The New-Set Launch Effect

Across TCGs generally - Pokemon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, and now Riftbound - sealed product from previous sets tends to move in a predictable pattern around a new set launch:

Two to six weeks before launch: collector attention concentrates on the new set. Previous-set prices tend to hit their floor as sellers offload inventory to make space and buyers hold off waiting for the new release.

Launch to eight weeks after: the new set commands full attention. Previous-set prices often stay soft during this period.

Three to six months after launch: collector focus broadens back out. Previous sets that had genuine merit start to see renewed interest, particularly if their chase cards perform on the graded market. This is often when the recovery happens - if it is going to happen at all.

Right now, Vendetta is roughly six weeks out. If Unleashed and Spiritforged are following this cycle, current prices are consistent with a pre-launch floor. Whether that floor holds depends on the strength of each set's underlying chase market - which is where the case gets genuinely interesting.

The Case for Unleashed at £105

Unleashed has one specific structural feature that anchors its sealed value: Baron Nashor, the first-ever Ultimate Rarity card in Riftbound.

The pull rate is roughly one Baron Nashor per 42 boxes. On the current UK secondary market, PSA 10 Baron Nashor sits at £2,300 to £2,900. To put that in context: a booster box at £105 contains, on average, a 1-in-42 chance at a graded card worth twenty-two to twenty-eight times the price of the box itself.

The maths do not make cracking for Baron Nashor rational - you would still statistically spend around £4,400 in product to guarantee one PSA 10-grade copy. But the underlying figure matters for sealed value in a different way. At £105 a box, the ratio of chase-card value to box price is one of the strongest we have seen across any current-year TCG sealed product. That is what a genuine floor looks like.

Ultimate Rarity is a new rarity tier introduced specifically in Unleashed - a designation that did not exist in previous Riftbound sets. First-ever cards in any category tend to carry a historical significance premium over time. Whether PSA 10 Baron Nashor holds at £2,300-£2,900 or continues climbing over the coming years is the real question - but that range is already substantially higher than early market estimates, which is a signal in itself.

The honest risk: if Baron Nashor softens meaningfully, the Unleashed sealed thesis weakens. Watch PSA 10 Baron Nashor sold prices in the six to twelve weeks after Vendetta launches - that is when we will learn whether the current range holds.

The Case for Spiritforged at £105

Spiritforged is the older of the two sets and, until recently, was the weaker sealed performer. That story has quietly changed.

The Ahri Inquisitive Signature Overnumbered from Spiritforged now trades above £5,000 PSA 10 in the UK - a significant increase from the £3,500 level of just a few months ago. This is one of the highest-priced graded Riftbound cards from any set, driven by a combination of Ahri's championship-level popularity, the Signature Overnumbered rarity tier (roughly one per 30 boxes), and thin graded supply.

That figure changes the Spiritforged case materially. At £105 a box, containing a rough one-in-30 shot at a graded card trading above £5,000, the ratio of chase-card value to box price is even sharper than Unleashed's.

Additional structural support for Spiritforged:

· Zed and Shen showcase cards - both champions are the headline pairing in Vendetta's Showdown Decks product. Vendetta demand often lifts prior-set cards featuring the same champions

· The Ahri connection to Vendetta - Ahri does not appear in Vendetta directly but sits in the broader League of Legends chase-champion tier that Vendetta's confirmed lineup (Akali, Ambessa, Mel) will draw new collectors into

The honest risk: the Ahri Signature Overnumbered figure is driven by extremely thin graded supply. If more copies reach the graded market, the £5,000 level could compress. Sealed Spiritforged supply is also relatively low, which cuts both ways - constrained availability can support prices, but low activity can also mean thinner buyer pools.

Why Vendetta Could Be the Inflection Point

Three things happen around 31 July that could reshape the sealed market for Unleashed and Spiritforged:

1. New collectors enter the ecosystem. A hyped new release brings new players and collectors into Riftbound. Some, having played with Vendetta cards, look backwards at what Baron Nashor, Ahri, and the Unleashed champions offer. Demand broadens beyond the current core Riftbound audience.

2. Older-set chase cards get reassessed. Once Vendetta's chase cards establish their own market floor - typically six to twelve weeks post-launch - the current Baron Nashor and Ahri figures either look expensive by comparison, or they look cheap. Either way, the market re-prices.

3. Sealed supply may tighten. UK retailers currently stocking Unleashed and Spiritforged at attractive prices are the same retailers who need shelf space for Vendetta. Some will clear older stock aggressively pre-launch (this is the buying opportunity); others will pull older stock post-launch to keep it available for players building competitive collections. Either way, £105-per-box availability is not guaranteed to persist.

What We Would Do Right Now

Honest positioning based on where the market sits:

If you have conviction in Riftbound as a long-term hold: the current £105 price on both sets is the strongest sealed entry point Riftbound has offered since launch. Buying 32% below launch retail into sets with proven, active chase-card markets is a defensible position. Split between Unleashed and Spiritforged rather than concentrating in one.

If you are already holding Unleashed or Spiritforged: accumulating at £105 lowers your average cost basis meaningfully. This is rational if your original thesis was long-term.

If you are new to Riftbound sealed: £105 per box is an attractive way in. Buy one box of each rather than going all-in on either.

If you are purely speculating on a short-term rebound: do not. TCG sealed rarely produces rapid flips. If you are buying now, plan for a 12-24 month hold minimum.

The Honest Risks

Two things could break this thesis and it is only fair to name them.

1. Vendetta could be strong enough to cannibalise older-set demand. If Vendetta produces a genuinely elite chase card and the new domain pairings define the competitive meta, older sets could be seen as legacy stock rather than active investments. That would keep prices soft.

2. The wider TCG market could soften. Modern TCG investing has had a strong run. Any broader cooling would hit Riftbound - a younger, less-established game - harder than Pokemon or Magic.

· Spiritforged is arguably the stronger case now - Ahri Signature Overnumbered PSA 10 has moved above £5,000, and sealed availability is tighter

· The strongest single position: split allocation across both sets, roughly 50/50 given the identical entry price

· Both are 12-24 month minimum holds - do not buy expecting a Vendetta-launch rebound

· Genuine risk: if Vendetta is exceptional, older sets stay soft; if it is not, older sets look better by comparison. Either way, you are buying at a genuine floor
